Essay Forms:
The USTA Foundation (USTAF) will be extending the 2022 NJTL Essay Contest submission deadline to July 25, 2022. USTAF is hopeful that this decision provides our youth participants more time to write their essays, as well as added engagement and flexibility in the administration of the same. With Summer programming ramping up, and more youth participating in tennis & education programming, they are hopeful that this will result in an even more successful Essay Contest!
With the extended submission deadline, the following dates have also been adjusted:
FINAL Individual Entries must be emailed and received by DD&J at ddandjfoundation@gmail.com by 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, July 23. (Remember that your essay must be 350 words or fewer.) Late entries will NOT be accepted.
DD&J will submit all entries Sunday, July 24.
July 29, 2022: USTA Section Staff will receive all entries within their respective Sections for review;
August 5, 2022: USTA Sections will provide their list of Section winners to the USTA Foundation;
August 8, 2022: The National Essay Contest Judging committee will receive Section winners to review for National selection;
August 15, 2022: The National Essay Contest Judging committee will submit National winners to the USTA Foundation;
Week of August 22nd: The winners and their NJTL Chapter Executive Director will be notified of selection; and
September 29 - October 2: Essay Contest Winners Trip to NYC.
Additionally, the USTAF will be hosting a webinar (date TBD) to review the new Essay Contest submission process in advance of the July 25, 2022 submission deadline. Invites to that webinar will be sent out once a webinar date has been confirmed.
